DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival - Vientiane
On arrival at Wattay Airport, you are met by our guide and transferred to our centrally located hotel. The charming and fascinating capital of Laos, Vientiane is a small city conjuring up exotic images, with the curious mix of Lao, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, French influences. We start our half day city tour with Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane. This amazing structure features remarkable frescoes and Buddha statues. Close to this masterwork is the former royal temple of Haw Pha Kaew which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. Afterwards we continue driving to Patouxai. This imposing monument standing in Lane Xang Avenue is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe and provides a stunning views of the city. We round off our day with a visit to the great sacred masterpiece and symbol of Laos, That Luang Stupa. O/N in Vientiane.

Day 2: Vientiane - Vang Vieng
The bustling central market in the heart of Vientiane, sells a wide away of local treasures. We wander this famous trading center before we head out of town to visit the giant Friendship Bridge and the impressive Buddha Park. This landmark represents a blend of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by mystical monk on a parkland located by the Mekong River. By early afternoon we depart for Vang Vieng. This small and tranquil village is famous for the beautiful scenery and becomes a new destination for anyone seeking the eco tourism or peaceful place to relax during days off. We follow the road No 13 with stopover at the fishery village of Ban Mo and some roadside markets. On arrival in Vang Vieng we enjoy a short walk to get our first hand orientation. O/N in Vang Vieng. (B)

Day 3: Vang Vieng ( Kayaking)
Today we catch our vehicle for a short drive to Viengsamay about 10 km away from town. The local guide will provide some kayak orientation and instruction in paddling technique. We start paddling along the Nam Song River offering various small but funny rapids. The first stop is Tham Nam Thaem Cave which cuts straight through the mountain and provides a fantastic view of the Nam Kouang Valley. We continue kayaking to the Organic Farm, where mulberry tea and a variety of fruit are produced. The Tham None Cave lies further downstream and boasts one of the biggest caves in Vang Vieng. This sacred cavern once served as a rescue shelter for the villagers during the Second Indochina War. We complete the final leg of paddle when reaching this hidden cave. O/N in Vang Vieng. (B,L)

Day 4: Vang Vieng - Luang Prabang
The following destination of our trip is Luang Prabang. We wind our way past the stunning mountain scenery. The road conditions are very poor therefore we need to bring along our spirit of adventure until Luang Prabang. This delightful town with its gleaming temple roofs, fading colonial architecture and stunning mountain backdrop, retains an unique charm rarely found in all Asia. There are plenty to see in Luang Prabang, some of which are the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, the Srilankalese styled temple of That Marko, the shrine of Wat Aham and the five tiered roof Wat Mai. We visit these sites before we embark on a climb up to Phousi Hill for a beautiful panorama view from the town center to the mighty Mekong River. There are 329 steps leading us on zigzag way past various temples to the sacred, gilded stupa of Wat Phousi at the summit. O/N in Luang Prabang. (B)

Day 5:Luang Prabang - Tad Sae Waterfall ( Biking)
The mountainous areas around Luang Prabang Town are also home of many ethnic groups and various stunning waterfalls littered in dense jungle. Today we get on our bikes to cycle through many peaceful villages and undulating terrains to Ban An. At this small village we embark a long tail boat for a cruise downstream on the Nam Khan River, giving us a taste of the tranquil countryside and an enjoyable escape. The boat will deliver us near Tad Sae waterfall. This is a pleasant stop for lunch and breather behind the cascades. We continue cycling to Ban Phanom, a well known weaving village of the Tai Lue people who used to make royal silk weaving textiles for the Lao former royal family. Upon leaving this visit we ride our bikes back and catch scenic views of the countryside . O/N in Luang Prabang. (B,L)

Day 6: Luang Prabang - Biking - Pak Ou Caves ( Biking)
Heading north of the town we cycle around 25 km on a good road towards the village of Ban Pak Ou. The roads are easy but it is still funny experience. We have a chance to make fun with waving kids on road sides and see villagers on their daily works such as logging, herding buffalo, tilling the field or weaving brocade. At end of our ride we board on a boat crossing the Mekong River to Pak Ou and Thamting Caves. These mysterious caves are crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes. We visit these famous grottos and cruise back to Luang Prabang Town stopping en route at Ban Xanghai, where villagers make the potent local rice wine. O/N in Luang Prabang.(B,L)

Day 7: Luang Prabang - Departure
The exploration of Luang Prabang would not be complete without a visit to the national museum at the former Royal Palace. This interesting structure displays a lovely collection of treasures and artifacts reflecting the richness of Lao culture dating from the days of the early kings right through the last sovereign. The next stop is Wat Xieng Thong, which nestles at the meeting of the Mekong and the Nam Khan River. The temple structures are decorated in various ways with gilded stuccoes, doorways and marvellous tree life mosaic pattern on an outer wall, representing the ancient temple architecture of Luang Prabang. We spend our time to see these sites and enjoy a walk around the nearby old quarter streets or simply relax at riverside bar. The trip ends after your transfer to Luang Prabang Airport for departure.
