KONGLOR
OVERVIEW |
This amazing 7.5 km-long limestone cave was formed by the Hinboun River which still flows through the cave year-round. You can take a boat ride right through the main caver, which is up to 90 meters wide and 100 meters high. The Konglor Cave can be reached via a 40 km overland trip from Ban Khoun Kham (the Gateway to Konglor) or by taking a slightly longer but more adventurous boat trip up the Hinboun River beginning in Naphouak village. Homestays are available in Natan and Konglor villages.
There are two routes to get to the cave.
The first one is to travel Vientiane along route 13 (south) to Hinboun District about 160 kilometers then by boat along the Hinboun River about 120 kilometers. The second one is to travel Vientiane along route 13 (South) to Ban Laow Village, turn left to Route 8 (Lak Sao intersection), at Km.37 Ban Khounkham Village after Theun Hinboun Reservoir turn right along the earth road about 38 kilometers to Ban Konglor Village.

KONGLOR TRAVEL TIPS |
Sala Hinboun
The Lao traditional residence built entirely in local timber, carefully decorated to match the way of life, set on the Hinboun River bank surrounded lime stone cliffs, near by the famous Kong Lor cave, the one and only cave in south East Asia that you can cross undernearth the mountain by boat on 8 km of distance. The home-stead is divided in two residences equipped with usual amenities required. The river view residence: 03 rooms and the studio Residence : 07 rooms.
Sala Kong Lor Lodge
Recently opened for the service, " Sala Kong Lor Lodge ", a camping site set near Ban Tiou village, right on Hinboun River bank, in the pleasant and leafy surroundings where lust vegetation is prominent. From the opposite bank, an underground creek, Houay Say with clean and clear water coming from the mountain ranges near by, joints in the main river, created a stretch of water suitable for swimming.
Further up stream ( about 1.5 km ) you will discover the famous Kong Lor cave, where you can experience the fantastic crossing by traditional long tail boat in the darkness.
